About DBA

With more than 24 years of experience as a clinical psychologist Dr. Denise Barnes founded Denise Barnes & Associates with the hope to help businesses drive a positive change from within. Having built a successful career working with adults in psychotherapy, DBA was established to address the concerns and life strategies associated with corporate referrals of individuals.

Dr. Barnes earned a B.A. degree from Mount Holyoke College, South Hadley, Mass., and then went on to receive both her M.A. and Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the Institute of Advanced Psychological Studies, Adelphi University, Garden City, N.Y. She has completed post-doctoral work at the Duke University Medical Center for the Study of Aging and Human Development, Durham, N.C., in addition to serving as a faculty member at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and at Duke University.

Dr. Barnes has presented nationally and internationally on issues related to the well-being of adults. In her free time, she has served on the historic preservation and natural conservation boards, a personal passion.
