With more than 35 years of experience as a clinical psychologist, Dr. Denise Barnes founded Denise Barnes and Associates. Bringing a holistic therapy approach to her clients, Dr. Barnes has a high regard for the intimate interaction of mind, body, and spirit. Serving those in need ethically and uniquely brings Dr. Barnes great joy in her professional career.

Dr. Barnes earned a B.A. degree from Mount Holyoke College, South Hadley, Mass., and then went on to receive both her M.A. and Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the Institute of Advanced Psychological Studies, Adelphi University, Garden City, N.Y. She has completed post-doctoral work at the Duke University Medical Center for the Study of Aging and Human Development, Durham, N.C., in addition to serving as a faculty member at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and at Duke University.

Dr. Barnes has presented nationally and internationally on issues related to the well-being of adults and takes a special interest in the needs of the geriatric population. In her free time, she has served on the historic preservation and natural conservation boards, a personal passion.
